December 4, 2014, San Antonio, TX.  Knight Aerospace Medical Systems (KAMS) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. James H. Henderson II, MD as an Advisor.  Henderson is an active clinical member of the faculty of the CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Family Medicine Residency Program in the capacity of Consultant, Pulmonary/Critical Care/Sleep Medicine since September 2011.  He is an active clinician and educator and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. He is presently Director of Inpatient Services and Chairman of the Clinical Competency Committee for the program, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the UTHSCSA Department of Family and Community Medicine, and serves as Vice Chairman of Medicine at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Westover Hills Hospital.  

 

Prior to his present position, Henderson served over 26 years in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, retiring in the rank of Colonel.  His extensive military service included the posts of Chairman of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine of the San Antonio Military Health System, Executive Board Member for Air Force Critical Care Air Transport, and Director of the Air Force Expeditionary Medical Skills Institute, USAFSAM, at Brooks City Base where he directed all Air Force advanced expeditionary training medical training at both civilian university trauma centers and military treatment facilities.  Henderson also served as the Commander of the 759th Surgical Operations Squadron where he directed personnel who filled over 50% of the Air Force critical care deployment positions while maintaining exemplary care resources for the Air Force’s only Level 1 trauma center.  

 

Henderson is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Oral Roberts University School of Medicine and whose medical education includes an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center and completion of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  He is author of various key medical publications and has an extensive repertoire of lectures and educational course studies.
